Computer Awareness Email transmissions and links to web sites you have visited are stored on your computer. The following instructions can assist you in making it harder for an abuser to track. Many local libraries or other public institutions also have computers with internet access available for public use. E-mail Safety It is best to use a web based e-mail service such as Yahoo or Hot-mail, which are free and store all of your e-mail information on their service instead of your computer. You can access them from any computer with internet access. Web Browser History When you visit websites, the links to these websites are stored as a list and can be accessed by an abuser. You can delete the files in the history using the following steps: Microsoft Internet Explorer 1. On the toolbar, click on view 2. Click on Internet Options. 3. Under general, click on the clear history button. 4. Click ok. Netscape Navigator 1. Click on Edit in toolbar. 2. Click on Preferences. 3. Click on Navigator , under History click expire now. 4. Click on Avanced and click on clear disk cache. 5. Click ok. |
