Programs
CFVC offers many programs to our residents, as well as to the community. You do not have to be in need of
shelter to seek our assistance, nor do you need to be a resident to attend our support groups.
Crisis Intervention Services
The Center has a 12-bed emergency shelter for women and children and a 24-hour crisis line for both
Spanish-speaking and English –speaking clients with TTY capabilities for the hearing impaired. The crisis
line is often the only link to safety available for battered women and their children. The crisis line
provides safety planning, information, and support to callers in immediate danger, and to those with questions
about people who may be battered. Additionally, the crisis line offers referrals to community resources
available throughout Georgia. Twice weekly support groups are offered for victims of domestic violence.
These services are offered free of charge.
Legal Advocacy Services
Legal advocacy services assist victims in filing emergency protection orders, accompanying and transporting
victims to Final Protection Order hearings as well as other court appearances; educating and advocating with
the local judiciary; conducting domestic violence training to local law enforcement agencies and other
community entities; making referrals to attorneys or Georgia Legal Services; and explaining court procedures
and legal rights.
Multi-Cultural Services
These include services for the non-English speaking victims of domestic violence with an emphasis on the
Hispanic community. These services include support groups specifically for the Latina population. They
also include an organizational culture that includes internal precedurs for the non-English speaking
population. These procedures include bi-lingual staff, use of interpreters, immigration and residency
status information and expertise, community resources, developed sensitivity to special dietary needs,
clothes, and providing brochures in Spanish to explain CFVC’s services.
TANF Assessment Program
Assist victims of domestic violence that are receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) benefits
through the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and victims that are “at risk” economically.
Through these two programs, CFVC provides domestic violence counseling as well as financial resources for
relocation expenses, transportation, childcare and other emergency financial needs of the victims.
Transportation Services
The Center may provide gas vouchers, taxi money and use of volunteers to shelter residents, TANF recipients
and legal clients. This provides transportation for going to doctor’s appointments, court appearances, job
interviews, other transportation needs, and appointments with other social service agencies.
Childcare Services
Childcare services are offered twice a week during the day to allow shelter residents and case management
clients to attend doctor’s appointments, life skill classes, court appearances, counseling sessions, job
interviews and other social service agency appointments.
Household Establishment Assistance
This service is designed to help women that have left their abusive situation quickly with no money or
belongings. This service is made possible through in-kind donations such as clothing, furniture and
household articles, which are available to all clients free of charge.
Life Skills Workshops
Workshops are available for the shelter residents, client referrals from DFCS and/or the judicial system.
These workshops include parent skills, household budgeting, job readiness training, legal options/court
protocol, the impact of domestic violence on children, safety planning and other skills needed to move
forward with a violence-free life.
Children’s Programs
Children’s programs play a critical role in addressing the issues of domestic violence. The program
includes support groups specifically for children, play therapy, home schooling for those children who
cannot attend their normal school for safety reasons, special outings, organized activities, and individual
or group counseling sessions for residents.
Referral Programs
CFVC provides community-wide educational, medical and financial referral resources, including social services
programs to all victims that we serve. Depending on the client’s needs and goals, we may provide referrals
to DFCS for TANF, food stamps or Medicare. We work with public, private and other non-profits for housing,
GED programs, job readiness and educational programs to help with their educational needs.
Community Education Services
These services are a vital part in eradicating domestic violence. CFVC assists in the education fo the
community by partnering with other organizations in implementing workplace violence programs, intervention
strategies with the local school system as well as being an active part in thelocal domestic violence task
force.
Transitional Housing at Hearthstone Landing

in the U.S. The gated community complex was designed for the unique needs of victims of domestic violence
and consists of two-, three- and four-bedroom units. This service is provided for the needs of long-term
